International students of York University are growing every year. They come from more than 90 countries in the world. International students account for a large proportion of the total number of students. The university has seven colleges and more than 30 departments. The central library has a collection of nearly 500000 books and 2700 periodicals. The main library of the school can meet the information inquiry needs of the students. The campus is equipped with more than 1000 days of computers, which are open 24 hours a day, including e-mail and the Internet. Students can process documents, make and apply databases and spreadsheets. They can also send and receive e-mails and log in to the Internet. The English Teaching Group offers a series of pre class and mid term English tutoring courses to provide English training for international students. Students can also participate in orientation courses for new students so as to better adapt to the school life. According to Li sichen's introduction to studying abroad, the school designates tutors for all international students, who are responsible for the progress of students' study during their stay at York University. During the study period, the University's employment service center provides students with recruitment information for temporary or part-time jobs inside and outside the University.

York University won the highest Gold Award in TEF and ranked 10th in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (Ref 2014).
