Every September, the students' association organizes orientation activities for new students, and other activities throughout the year, including comedy nights, plays and concerts, continue to be exciting. More than 100 student clubs and societies are supported by student associations. The institute building houses the student health centre, accommodation office, employment services and international support group (IST). IST provides a series of support and guidance for international students, such as how to apply for visas and immigration, how to cope with "culture shock" and so on. It also hosts large welcome events for international freshmen.
Religious beliefs play an important role in the lives of Liverpool university students, teachers and locals alike. The new faith center on campus houses Anglican, Roman Catholic and methodist chapels, and the student association has a prayer room for Muslim students.
